In 1995, artist and innovator Raúl Cárdenas Osuna founded the Tijuana-based Torolab, a consortium of artists and designers who explore ways to improve urban environments.
WHY WE LOVE RAUL AND TOROLAB:
- Raúl sees artists as some of the greatest interventionists and, in his own words, Torolab works “to empower and impulse people who are agents of change”
- Torolab’s Transborder FarmLab is seeing real results as a physical platform for harvesting food and developing strategies for improved living conditions in Camino Verve, Tijuana
- On a mission to make eating healthier more accessible and appealing to Mexican workers, they created delicious versions of popular street food that are lower in fat and higher in nutrients than the originals
