Ras Kendall came to New York to study Environmental Science at Plattsburgh State University. He then received a Masters in Science Education from New York University’s Steinhart School for Education and began teaching in New York City Public Schools. Observing that the educational system was not preparing students for the world, he formed his own homeschooling collective. He currently runs the inquiry-based Light and Peace Learning Center in Bedford Stuyvesant’s Stuyvesant Mansion.
