Isshaq Albarbary

Isshaq Albarbary is an artist and researcher from Beit Jibrin refugee camp in Palestine. He currently lives and works between Amsterdam and Bethlehem. His work centers on Stateless Refugee Heritage, exploring its social and political prospects. By investigating the interplay between materiality and temporality, memory and power within contexts of (settler) colonialism and extraterritoriality, Isshaq challenges conventional narratives, calling for new avenues of social and political belonging.

Albarbary holds an MFA from HKU, Utrecht, and is a member of Urban Front. He was a 2017-2018 fellow at BAK, part of Campus in Camps, and a founding member of the collective Al Maeishah.
