Collective Movement Workshop on the Mall
Robby Herbst’s work engages with contemporary and historic experiments in socio-political aesthetics. He is co-founder and former editor of the Journal of Aesthetics & Protest, and instigates projects with the geographically sited critical-landscape oriented Llano Del Rio Collective, co-organizes Chats About Change, a series of grassroots conversations with artists involved in creative social change in Los Angeles. A collection of his essays on the subject of group movement, Ceremony Of Us, is due to be published this fall by Wooden Leg Print & Press. Robby recently completed New New Games, a participatory public art project exploring the democratic and generative New Games Movement of the 1970’s, its humanist spirit and its legacy in a post-humanist world.
For the Summit, Robby will lead a Collective Movement Workshop on the Mall, applying practices from this recent work to reanimate our understandings of collectives and civic identity.
