Silvana Imam
Silvana Imam is making waves in Sweden thanks to her EP When You See Me–See Yourself, released March 2014. Known for her conscious-raising political commentary, Imam recently topped the P3 chart "Best Songs Thus Far 2014" with track "I•M•A•M" and was the only artist with two tracks on the list. Through her unique combination of poetry and politics, she seeks to confront the negative stereotyping and power structures that exist within male-dominated hip-hop culture and Swedish society. In August 2014, she released "IMAM COBAIN," an alternative anthem for Sweden's Gay Pride Parade, hoping to counter "norms of whiteness, patriarchy, and homophobia."
